The Celts have already lost key forward Nicholas Kuhn this summer, and they have managed to say goodbye to another important player in the Daizen Maeda.

The 2024-25 season was an epic season for Maeda. Meda scored 33 goals in 51 appearances in all Celtic tournaments. In addition to 11 assists, we saw him register 44 target contributions. This is the best return of his career so far.

After this, Premier League clubs are gaining attention. Interest has been revealed from West Ham and Crystal Palace in recent months, and these clubs may now be on alert.

According to a soccer insider, Mick Brown revealed that Maeda has suspended contract talks with the Celt and is interested in the possibility of moving into the Premier League.

“I think Premier League interest has changed his mind a bit, and he’s trying to look at all his options as he has two years left on the contract.

“It’s a win-win situation for both sides as he’s happy to be staying at Celtic. It’s not that he wants to leave, but if a Premier League club comes for him, he might want to make that move because he doesn’t want to close that door.

“Signing a new contract means that opportunities never happen now. At this stage, it’s late and he sees who comes in for him.”

Tada’s departure, which remains on his current contract, for less than two years, will be a major blow to Celtic, who could be prepared for an approach from one or more Premier League clubs in the coming weeks.
