Ugarte: United Stars Remain Confident in Amorim’s Vision

Manuel Ugarte has expressed that Reuben Amorim has received backing from the Manchester United squad, even amid a challenging start as head coach.

Since succeeding Erik Ten Hag in November, Amorim has led the team to seven victories in the Premier League, yet United’s current 15th place finish represents their poorest domestic performance in over half a century.

With his first complete season upon him as a coach from Portugal, Ugarte, who played under Amorim at Sporting CP, firmly believes Amorim is the right choice for the role.

“We need to enhance certain aspects,” Ugarte stated. “We have upcoming games to prepare for. Everyone is highly motivated. We trust our coaching staff, and that belief in his vision is crucial.”

Ugarte is entering his second season at Old Trafford after transferring from Paris Saint-Germain a year ago.

The midfielder improved towards the end of the last Premier League season, though he was unexpectedly absent from the squad during the Europa League final loss to Tottenham in Bilbao.

Amorim noted that the team, referred to as the Uruguirons, has returned this summer with renewed confidence, a claim supported by Ugarte’s strong showing in a 2-1 win against West Ham in New Jersey.

“We made several adjustments last year, including a coaching change and tactical shifts,” he added. “I feel good this season and am eager to contribute positively to United.”

“Playing for United means shouldering responsibility. I’m thrilled and eager to keep moving forward.”

“Building connections can take time, but now I have the experience with the league and our rivals, which is vital.”

Manchester United is rumored to be pursuing another defensive midfielder to offer competition to Ugarte and Casemiro. Young Toby Collier is keen on playing more minutes within Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.

However, the 21-year-old has hinted he might consider leaving his loan this summer to secure more playing time following 13 appearances last semester.

“I aim to be on the pitch as much as possible,” Collier commented. “I’ll discuss with my manager and senior players to figure out the best path forward, whether that means staying here or going out on loan.”

“Ultimately, my goal is to maximize my playing time.”

Fan Take: This news is significant for soccer enthusiasts as it highlights Manchester United’s ongoing struggles and potential for rejuvenation under Amorim. The dynamics within the team and the players’ confidence in their manager could greatly influence their performance in the upcoming season.
