  • Ollie Watkins impressed the man United
  • The Red Devils face competition from Newcastle for Sesco

Manchester United narrowed their focus in the summer transfer market as the club bolsters efforts to introduce new strikers.

According to athletic journalist Laurie Whitwell, United is currently exploring two key targets: Ollie Watkins of Aston Villa and Benjamin Sesco of RB Leipzig.

While there have already been talks between Man United and Aston Villa over Olly Watkins, any deal proves challenging. The villa wants to move the stars forward and is not open to negotiation unless they can secure the right alternative.

Watkins, who enjoyed a prolific spell under Unai Emery in Villa Park, is considered an integral part of the Villa’s plan. Villa treasures him for around £60 million, but he believes United could be more flexible if he succeeds in signing another striker.

In parallel, United continues to pursue Sesco, a move driven in part by technical director Christopher Vivel, who has known players well since his days at RB Leipzig.

The Bundesliga currently wants Slovenia International to at least 80 million euros, but United and fellow suitor Newcastle United hope that the asking price will drop to near 70 million euros as the windows progress.

Newcastle is currently ahead of Sesko’s debate, potentially poses a serious threat to United’s ambitions. Nevertheless, Reuben Amorim’s side remains firmly in the race, viewing the younger advance as a long-term solution to the offense.

As it stands, Chelsea’s Nicholas Jackson is not a priority for Man United, and the club sees the financial terms of potential deals as too high.

With a focus on Watkins and Sesko, United fans can expect more development in the coming days as the club seeks to strengthen its frontline.
