Everton has announced the signing of Adam Aznou, a young left back from Bayern Munich, on Tuesday.

The deal is reported to be around £8 million ($10.7 million), providing competition for Vitaliy Mykolenko after the departure of Ashley Young this summer.

The 19-year-old has earned three caps for Morocco, although he was born in Barcelona and trained at the renowned La Masia Academy, making him eligible to play for Spain as well.

Bayern Munich secured his signing in 2022, but he made only two Bundesliga appearances for the club. Last season, he had a successful loan spell with Real Valladolid, appearing in 13 La Liga matches.

Upon joining David Moyes at Everton, Aznou expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m very happy to be here, and I’m proud to be part of this team.”

“The projects they presented to me are impressive. The Premier League is the best league in the world, so I’m really looking forward to it,” he added.

“(Moyes) spoke to me about the team and how much he wanted me, so I made my decision quickly after our conversation.”

Aznou has become Everton’s fourth summer signing, joining midfielder Carlos Alcaraz, striker Tiano Barry, and goalkeeper Mark Travers.

The team will face West Ham United, Manchester United, and Roma in preseason matches before opening the Premier League season against Leeds United on August 18.

Fan Take: This signing could indicate that Everton is serious about strengthening their squad and competing at a higher level, particularly after losing an experienced player like Ashley Young. For soccer fans, the arrival of young talent like Aznou represents the ongoing evolution of the league and the potential for exciting new dynamics on the pitch.
