Red Bull Sends Strongest Signal Yet on Max Verstappen’s 2026 F1 Future

Red Bull has made it clear that Max Verstappen will continue racing for their team as Formula 1 gears up for the new regulation changes set for 2026. Following the Belgian Grand Prix, Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko confirmed that Verstappen will remain with the Milton Keynes team for his 11th consecutive season.

Marko stated, “Yes, we can confirm that Max Verstappen will drive for Red Bull in 2026,” as reported by sport.de. This announcement came just before the summer break and the start of the 2025 season, activating a contract clause related to Verstappen’s continuation with the team. Although the specifics of this clause haven’t been disclosed, reports indicate Verstappen could leave only if he falls out of the top three standings after the Hungarian Grand Prix. Currently, Verstappen leads by 28 points over his closest rival, Mercedes driver George Russell, ensuring he will remain in the top three after the upcoming Budapest race.

Throughout the 2025 season, Verstappen’s future was a hot topic, partly due to Red Bull’s performance and Mercedes’ interest in the four-time world champion. However, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff hinted at a shift during the Belgian Grand Prix, suggesting the team will keep its current lineup of Russell and rookie Kimi Antonelli for 2026. With Mercedes stepping back from pursuing Verstappen, no other premier F1 seats are expected to challenge him next season.

Fan Take: This confirmation of Verstappen staying with Red Bull is a huge win for racing fans eager to see continued fierce competition at the top. It sets the stage for intense battles under the new regulations and keeps one of the sport’s brightest stars firmly in a top team, promising thrilling seasons ahead.
