Sunderland has been extremely active in the transfer market this summer, and their efforts will continue in the coming weeks. Black cats are desperate to bridge the gap with Premier League people, and one of their rumored targets will certainly help in that regard.

A friendly 3-0 preseason defeat to Hart last weekend shows that more additions are needed to register Lubuli’s team, especially in defense. At least one centre-back will be taking part during the September transfer window closure, with one option at the table being John Lukumi, Colombia International in Bologna.

Rukumi, who has been linked to Tottenham and Liverpool in recent weeks, will sign a statement from Sunderland. And according to Corriere Dello Sport (via sports witness), the 27-year-old is seduced by a move to the Stadium of Light.

Lukumi has had a three-impressive three years in Bologna, but is expected to leave this summer as he has less than 12 months left on his contract with the Serie A side. Sunderland wants to take advantage of the situation by signing him in a cut price deal.

Sunderland signed many young talent overseas this summer, but the addition of Lukumi, who played 29 times for Colombia, adds much needed experience to Le Blis’ team, along with the already signed Reindyomandava, who he signed from Atletico Madrid earlier this month.

It remains to be seen whether Sunderland will be able to enter into a deal with Lukumi, but if that’s the case, going with Granite Zaka, who is moving to Bayer Lebakusen, would be another impressive signature.
