TORONTO – Third seed Lorenzo Musetti and fifth seed Holgaroon won the opening match at the National Bank Open on Tuesday.

Musetti beat Australian qualifier James Duckworth 7-5, 6-1, but Rune was the winner of Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 7-6 (7), 6-3 on a hot, sunny afternoon.

All seeded players had their first round goodbye in the Masters 1000 tournament. Top ranked Jannik Sinner, No. 2Carlos Alcaraz, No. 5Jack Draper, No. 6Novak Jjokovic is all skipping hard court events.

No. 8 seed Casperlude, No. 11 Karen Khachanov, No. 14Francisco Cerundolo, No. Alexei Popyrin, the 18th Alexei Popyrin, was one of the other winners.
