Viktor Gyökeres revealed that he turned down offers from other clubs before finalizing his €73 million ($85.7 million) transfer to Arsenal.

The 27-year-old concluded a lengthy transfer saga last week by signing with the North London club.

Manchester United and Juventus were among several teams monitoring his progress, as he emerged as one of Europe’s most coveted strikers.

In his first interview during the club’s preseason tour in Asia, the former Brighton, Coventry, and Swansea player stated on Wednesday:

“There were certainly other clubs interested, but this time I found it was an easy choice for me.”

“The Premier League is undeniably the best league in the world, which has always been my ambition. So when I recognized it was the right moment, I eagerly returned.”

When asked what Arsenal needs to improve after finishing second in the last three Premier League seasons, Gyökeres responded:

“Success requires teamwork, not just 11 players on the field but also a strong bench. I genuinely believe we have a promising opportunity for an outstanding season.”

This news is significant for soccer fans as it not only highlights Arsenal’s ambitions to bolster their squad but also underscores the intense competition in European football. Gyökeres’s arrival could be a game-changer for Arsenal, potentially impacting their quest for the Premier League title in the upcoming season.
