Stefanos Tsitsipas brings dad back as coach after Ivanisevic Split

Stefanos Tsitsipas brought his father, Apostolos, as coach after finishing his brief partnership with Goran Ivanisevic, former World No. 3 said.

After less than two months, Tsitsipas, 26, has ended his collaboration with Ivanisevic, who helped claim Novak Djokovic for nine of his 24 Grand Slam titles.

Tsitsipas, the French Open in 2021 and Australia’s Open runner-up in 2023, finished 30th in the world rankings and failed to surpass the second round in the first three grand slams of the season.

Following the exit of Tsitsipas’ first round at Wimbledon, Ivanisevic gave a poignant Greek assessment, saying in his life he “had never seen a player who was less prepared.”

His title victory in Dubai in February is the only final he reached in 2025.

“There’s a way to get back to where they started,” Tsitsipas, who lost to Christopher O’Connell in the second round of the Canadian Open on Wednesday, posted on social media.

“After a while I was reunited with the first person I believed in: my father.

“I am grateful to share the court and road with him again, and we went through every chapter of this journey together.

“Going home is sometimes the boldest step.”
