Charlie Woods finishes T-9 with the junior PGA after closing the 74

Charlie Woods shot a 3-over 74 in the final round of the Junior PGA Championship on Friday, waning from competition to secure one of the two qualifying spots for the US Junior Ryder Cup team.

Tiger Woods’ 16-year-old son, Woods, entered a two-day tied up day at the Ackerman Allen course at the Birk Boyle Maker Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Indiana, with a total of 12 under pars over three days. However, he never set a fire in the final round, and he came across a bogey on the 14th and a double bogey on the 15th.

He was tied to 9th place under the age of nine.

Landen Esterline, the 2027 Auburn commit from Kansas, won the event under the age of 19. In addition to the title, he secured one of the two automatic qualifying spots for the Junior Rider Cup team. Giuseppep Ebla finished at 13 under and was awarded the other.

The US will face Team Europe on September 23-25 at Nassau Country Club and Beth Page Black in New York. Woods is eligible to be the only captain pick next week, but that’s unlikely as the 20th player in the latest American Junior Golf Association rankings.

Woods has never competed in this event.

Woods, a rising junior at Benjamin School in Palm Beach, Florida, won AJGA’s team Taylormade Invitational in May. He missed the cut in the recent US Junior Amateur.

Also on Friday, Astary Tully won Zoe Kusack for a one-shot young girl junior PGA title.
