Norris has an advantage over FP2’s piastry

Randorris stayed on top during his second practice session at Hungarian Ligue Rampuri, expanding his advantage over teammate Oscar Piastri from the first session.

The two McLaren drivers were separated on FP1 at just 0.019, but Norris combined a stronger run with low fuel and softer tires in his second session to remove 0.291 from the piercing. Despite Norris nearly dropping it on his second timing attempt, the result was that Britton soaked the outer tire on the grass at the turn-in point in the final corner, and eventually recovered in the outflow area.

The top three drivers remained the same from FP1 to FP2, with Charles Leclair sliding further behind Norris, making him a 0.4S ad-lift for Reed McLaren. Aston Martin enjoyed a more competitive weekend start than Belgium, so Leclerc was fourth in less than 0.1 seconds after Lance’s walk.

Fernando Alonso sat in his first practice session to manage a muscular back injury and took action after Felipe Drugvich returned to his car after he replaced him in FP1. The Spaniards wereted no time in speeding up. 25 laps completed. There are only three less than my teammate’s walks.

Max Verstappen, an uncompetitive session for the defending champions, had a strange moment.

Rather than returning to the pit with an item, Verstappen tugs it towards the inside of the circuit and throws it away. The investigation relates to a vehicle that was allegedly released in an unsafe condition, not where the Dutchman threw the item.

Verstappen ranked 14th in the rankings, surpassing 0.3 over his ninth fastest teammate Yuki Tsunoda, and reported on radio in the long run.

The mood of Red Bull drivers was not helped by the long-term pace. Because he averages about 0.8 seconds per lap than the piastry on medium tires, and 0.3 seconds that Leclerc posted.

Of the top four teams, Mercedes also seemed to struggle with the long-term pace. George Russell is 0.4 seconds per Verstappen lap, more than a second away from McLaren Pace in the race simulation.

Russell was seventh fastest of Norris’ lap times and the best part of the 0.8s as the Racing Bulls got another strong start to the race weekend just behind Lewis Hamilton.
