The Los Angeles Sparks secured their first double overtime win of the season by narrowly beating the Seattle Storm 108-106 on Friday. The thrilling match featured 14 lead changes and 12 ties, highlighting both teams’ offensive prowess in clutch moments. In the last minute of regulation, five baskets were scored without a miss, and the overtime periods saw crucial plays from Julie Alemando, Skyler Diggins, and Gabby Williams, culminating in Dearica Hamby’s decisive pick-and-roll finish. Despite Diggins missing a game-tying buzzer-beater the day before her 35th birthday, the Sparks triumphed with four players scoring 20 or more points—a first in franchise history.

Rickeya Jackson led LA with 27 points, delivering one of her best professional games while dominating the glass against Seattle. Cameron Brink, returning from an ACL injury, contributed with solid defense and three blocks in limited minutes. Dominique Malonga supported Brink’s minutes by adding five points early in the fourth quarter, helping the Sparks stay competitive while key players rested. Conversely, Seattle struggled without former LA star Nneka Ogwumike, who joined Arashi’s roster and delivered 37 points. Despite a close foul count, Seattle’s coach Noel Quinn expressed frustration over the lack of free throw opportunities and a contentious call late in the game.

The Sparks improved their record to 9-6 on the road, moving closer to playoff contention, while Seattle sits tied for fifth place and is gearing up for a rematch against Indiana. Though the Sparks remain outside the playoff spots, their resilience and balanced scoring threat underscore their potential to make a significant impact as the season progresses.
