The Aftershock, a team made up of Wichita State alumni, claimed the 2025 TBT championship on Sunday, securing a million-dollar prize after defeating Eweline Drive by a double-digit margin. The Aftershock quickly established a 12-point lead early on, but Eweline Drive responded with a 12-0 run to even the score at 21-20 by the end of the first quarter. Eweline briefly took the lead in the second quarter, but the Aftershock answered with another 12-0 run, closing the half ahead 46-37.

Though Eweline Drive stayed close early in the second half, narrowing the gap to 55-50, they struggled to maintain momentum. The game featured a unique “ELAM” ending, where the clock stops in the fourth quarter, setting a target score of 82 to win. After a tense final phase, Marcus Keene sealed the victory for the Aftershock with a decisive free throw. Keene, who scored 22 points on 50% shooting, won the TBT 2025 MVP award and notched his seventh game-winning shot in ELAM endings, the most in tournament history. Junathaen Watson led Eweline Drive with 14 points. Keene also hinted at possibly returning for next year’s tournament.

Fan Take: This victory highlights the rising talent and excitement within The Basketball Tournament, bringing thrilling finishes that captivate fans. Marcus Keene’s clutch performance and record-setting moments underline why TBT is becoming an essential stage for players to showcase their skills and impact the future of basketball.
