Liverpool has officially confirmed the signature of 17-year-old striker Will Wright from Salford City and continues to make an aggressive push to secure both immediate and long-term talent under manager Arne Slot.

The highly rated forward joined the Premier League champions on a contract worth around £200,000, but the club has not revealed the transfer fee or length of the contract in the announcement.

Wright was on Liverpool’s radar for most of the summer, but his speech began as early as June. The negotiations were steadily progressing, and by mid-July, Liverpool had joined in advanced debate to bring young people to Merseyside.

Arsenal and Manchester City were also keeping an eye on the teenage talent, but Liverpool ultimately won the race for his signature.

Despite his age, the lights are already making waves. The striker made his professional debut at Salford City in November 2024 and quickly gained a reputation as one of the most promising forwards in the Lower League.

He is already wearing a Liverpool shirt and has been featured for the Under-21 side in his recent goalless draw with Hull City, marking the quiet but iconic beginning of Anfield’s journey.

Wright is clearly a future signature, but his arrival reflects the foresightful direction of Liverpool’s transfer policy.

The Reds balance well-known and big money signatures with smart investments in young people, including the acquisition of Florian Wirtz’s club record from Bayer Leverkusen.

Liverpool is also in the middle of the biggest saga of the window as they continue their pursuit of Newcastle United striker Alexander Isaac. Their offer to Swedish International was rejected, but the club remains optimistic that the deal could ultimately be hit.

In the meantime, Wright’s arrival shows Liverpool’s commitment to both the present and the future, adding another exciting name to the growth list of young talent.
