Alexander Isak has returned to training with Newcastle United on Monday, following his absence from the club’s preseason tour due to ongoing rumors about his future.

He had been training with his previous team, Real Sociedad, to recover from “minor thigh injuries,” which prevented him from participating in friendly matches in Asia.

Last week, ESPN reported that Liverpool had bids reaching £110 million ($107 million) for Isak turned down, with no plans for a subsequent offer unless Newcastle secures a replacement striker.

This offer fell short of Newcastle’s £150 million ($1.99 billion) valuation of Isak. Reports suggest that Newcastle’s rejection made Liverpool feel that a second bid would be futile at this stage.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe described the circumstances as “much more than ideal.”

Newcastle is also in the market for a striker and is eyeing RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko, valued at 80 million euros ($106 million), although their interest was reportedly declined.

Manchester United is similarly keen on Sesko, and communications between both clubs have begun with discussions currently underway.

Fan Take: This news resonates strongly with soccer fans as it underscores the ongoing dynamics of player transfers, reflecting the immense stakes involved for clubs and players alike. The potential movement of a high-profile player like Isak could significantly alter the competitive landscape of the Premier League, intensifying fan interest and league competitiveness.
