Anton Khudobin, the former goaltender for the Carolina Hurricanes, has reportedly retired from professional hockey after an impressive 17-year career. At 39 years old, Khudobin spent about 14 seasons in the NHL, playing for six different teams, with notable stints in Dallas and Carolina.

During his time with the Hurricanes from 2013 to 2015, Khudobin played in 70 games for the franchise. In those appearances, the Russian goalie achieved a 27-31-7 record, registered two shutouts, and posted a 0.914 save percentage alongside a 2.5 goals-against average.

One of the highlights of Khudobin’s NHL journey was his remarkable playoff run with the Dallas Stars during the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals. Although he had only played two playoff games before, he took part in 25 postseason contests that year, maintaining a save percentage of 0.917. Specifically, in the six-game series against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Khudobin recorded a 0.910 save percentage.

Congratulations to Anton Khudobin on a memorable career and well-deserved retirement.

Fan Take: Khudobin’s retirement marks the end of an era for a dependable and gritty goaltender who quietly made a significant impact in the NHL. His journey reminds hockey fans of the value of perseverance and clutch performances, inspiring the next generation of netminders.
