ATLANTA – Reuben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, has expressed support for Bruno Fernandez after he critiqued the team’s performance during the 2-2 draw against Everton.

Fernandez described certain aspects of their display at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium as “lazy” on Sunday.

When asked if he agreed with Fernandez’s assessment, Amorim stated that he welcomes players pushing each other as part of his efforts to foster a better culture at Old Trafford.

“It’s a blessing to see players expressing that sentiment,” Amorim remarked. “Their understanding of the situation is encouraging. The atmosphere during our tour was ideal.”

“We spent weeks in a positive environment, and now that we’re back at Carrington, we’re ready to kick off the season.”

“We recognize that there’s always room for improvement,” he added.

Like his assessment of the match against Everton, Fernandez expressed to NBC that he hopes the club can secure “one or two more players” before the transfer window closes.

United have invested £133 million to bring in Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, both of whom made their debuts against Everton, and they’re actively pursuing RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

“A team can only get better with additional players, although competition exists within the squad,” said Amorim regarding Fernandez’s thoughts. “We need to enhance our teamwork, and I’m very pleased with the club.”

Regarding Sesko’s situation, RB Leipzig is in talks with Newcastle United, who have made a formal offer.

Before the match against Everton, United CEO Omar Bellada emphasized the urgency of the recruitment team’s efforts.

“We have to juggle many tasks,” Bellada told MUTV. “Our recruitment team, led by Jason (Wilcox), is working tirelessly to explore opportunities to strengthen our squad.

“There are numerous last-minute calls and early morning meetings to ensure we stay ahead.”

Fan Take: This news is crucial for soccer fans as it highlights Manchester United’s proactive approach to squad improvement and the importance of player accountability, which can significantly impact their performance this season. With potential newcomers and a focus on culture, it sets a tone for competitive ambition that fans eagerly anticipate.
