Fabrizio Romano spoke to him to clarify the details of the Benjamin Sesco Transfer Saga, as he chose Manchester United for Newcastle.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano confirmed that Sesko told Man Utd “nearly complete” and said yes to Man Utd.

This is in line with what Athletic also reported, as it appears that Sesco is closing to travel to Old Trafford.

Interestingly, Romano appears to want to emphasize that Sesco did not say yes to Newcastle, despite some recent claims by some reporters and outlets.

Magpies may have wanted to land the 22-year-old, but that doesn’t mean he was always ready to go there while he waited to see how things were unfolding at United…

According to Fabrizio Romano, Benjamin Sesco never said yes to Newcastle

“Benjamin Sesco has reached an agreement with Manchester United in his personal terms,” Romano said.

“So despite all the reports we’ve had recently, and I really respect all the reports, but many of you send me and ask me, is this true?”

“Someone said it was in Newcastle on Saturday, and then recently someone said they agreed to the terms with Newcastle. Someone said they were ready to say ‘Yes’ to Newcastle.’ Benjamin Sesco can guarantee he hasn’t given the green light to other clubs this summer.

“So the only case where Benjamin Sesco says, ‘It’s okay, this contract is fine, this contract is in progress’, it’s with Manchester United.

“So Manchester United have come to an agreement with Benjamin and his agents after Tuesday consultations – very, very positive – and after being sent out their final draft this morning, Wednesday morning, they also got a final green light on paper.

“So I’ll sign Benjamin Sesco until June 2030.”

United are focused on signing proven Premier League players this summer, bringing Brian Mbeumo and wolf Mateus Cunha from Brentford.

Sesko managed to complete the new look front 3, but he’s more like a long-term project than the two players and you’d expect to be running and running soon.

Reuben Amorim hopes Sesko can also adapt quickly as he is sure to be under a lot of pressure after the 2024/25 campaign, when the team finished 15th in the Premier League table and 15th in the Europa League final.
