colapinto ok after crashing in test

Franco Colapinto was evaluated at the medical center and was told “OK” by his alpine team after crashing during tire testing at Hanger Rolling.

Pirelli ran the two-day Test following Hungary’s Grand Prix Weekend, with Alpine winning one of four teams, including McLaren, Ferrari and the Racing Bulls. Corapinto was driving in the morning on the second day of the test, and was scheduled to be handed over to teammate Pierre Guthrie for an afternoon session, but a severe crash at Turn 11 (140 mph right-handed) temporarily halted the procedure.

A photograph of a Budapest audience showed the car facing in the wrong direction next to the barrier in the drainage area, with severe damage to the right side.

Colapinto has launched seven Alpine races so far this year. It’s after a technical issue with Silverstone arises and Jack Doohan replaces six rounds in the season. Both drivers failed to score points up to this stage. Only two have not achieved top 10 results so far in 2025.

Teams participating in the Pirelli program used the test MULE, adapted to the size of the 2026 tire dimensions. This is 25mm narrower at the front and 30mm narrower at the rear. Pirelli reported that next year’s C3, C4 and C5 compounds prototypes were being used on the first day of testing.

The Alpines are the only team scheduled to complete both test days, driven by Paul Aron on Tuesday. Lando Norris and Liam Lawson were active for the McLaren and the Racing Bulls on the first day, respectively, but on Wednesday they also featured Charles Leclerc, who drives when Ferrari joins the Test with the Alpine.
