  • Newcastle “Confidence” can sign Wissa
  • Wissa is an underrated Premier League star

Newcastle United faces difficulties in the striker division, but the club’s chief is confident that one of its targets will be on board before the transfer deadline.

Eddie Howe, on the Asian foot of the preseason tour, held a press conference where he tackled the attitudes of the poor players, saying, “You need to get the right to train with us.”

Alexander Isaac has not acquired this right in his manager’s eyes, and he is “ordered to train separately from his teammates and stay away from the barbecue at the training ground at lunchtime.”

The departure of Darwin Nunes and Luis Diaz, as well as the tragic passage of Diogo Jota, led to the opening of Liverpool’s forward line, with Arne Slot hoping to fill in Isaac, and it is clear that Swedish international shares this desire based on his actions.

With ISAK causing problems in the dressing room, Howe has set his sights on a new Premier League-backed striker who wants to join the club.

Newcastle “Confidence” can sign Wissa

Givemesport reports that he is paying attention to the double dive of Yoan Wissa and Ollie Watkins after Newcastle failed to sign Benjamin Sesco. Of the two players, Wissa appears most likely to join as she is “confident to trade for around £40 million before the September 1 deadline.”

The report shows Wissa’s desire to play Champions League football and believes that will help them secure their moves. Last week’s report that Wissa had “refused to train to drive the move” also boosted Hau’s confidence in completing the transaction.

Wissa will become the latest star to leave Brentford this summer, along with club captain Christian Norgaard and fellow forward Brian Mbemo. But the club’s biggest loss this summer is Thomas Frank, who has been managing the club since 2018.

Frank brought Wissa from Lorien in 2021 and praised the development as a finisher in 2023.

Wissa is an underrated Premier League star

He may not have been the first name on Newcastle’s shopping list, but if he can pass the line this summer, it could be one of the best signatures of the year. From Frank clearly seeing Wissa’s value and potential, the Congolese star is not always given the admiration he deserves, sometimes falling in the shadows of players like Mbemo and Ivan Tony.

Wissa’s record against the Premier League “Big Six” proves he can play with the most stringent fixtures.

This impressive record is likely why he is a highly valuable target for Howe. This will be Newcastle’s first season in the reconstructed Champions League. This means they will face a bigger aspect than ever before, so Wissa’s achievements in the big game could help them reach the later rounds.
