In Phoenix, Alyssa Thomas delivered an impressive performance with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and 10 assists, becoming the first WNBA player to record three consecutive triple-doubles. Her efforts helped the Phoenix Mercury secure their third straight victory by defeating the Indiana Fever on Thursday night.

Thomas achieved her 19th career triple-double with 3:47 remaining, assisted by Dewanna Bonner’s pass leading to a three-pointer. Over the last three games, Thomas has accumulated 41 points, 33 rebounds, and 32 assists. Bonner contributed a season-high 23 points, Satou Sabally added 15 points and eight rebounds, and Kahleah Copper scored 11 points for Phoenix (19-11).

For Indiana (17-14), Sophie Cunningham led with 18 points, including five three-pointers out of eight attempts, while Kelsey Mitchell added 12 points. Caitlyn Clark remained sidelined due to a groin injury, missing her ninth game. Early in the third quarter, Phoenix narrowed the gap to 53-44 after Cunningham hit back-to-back three-pointers, but the Mercury responded with a 14-0 run capped by a Sami Whitcomb three-pointer, creating a 23-point lead with 2:39 left in the quarter. Indiana failed to score for over four minutes during that period and managed just 11 points in the quarter.

The season series between the teams is now tied at one win each, with their final regular-season game set for September 2nd in Phoenix.

Fan Take: Alyssa Thomas’s historic achievement underscores how individual brilliance can fuel team success in the WNBA. This milestone not only elevates fans’ excitement but also highlights the growing talent and competitiveness that continue to propel the league forward.
