Yankees’ Aaron Judge Optimistic About Making an Early Return to the Outfield

Judge Aaron is making solid progress with his throwing routine. Yankees Manager Aaron Boone mentioned that Judge pitched in Texas on Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, with plans to continue before Sunday’s final game in the Bronx. Boone noted daily improvements in Judge’s condition and remains hopeful about his recovery. Judge has not played in the field since July 25th due to a flexor strain in his right elbow.

The 33-year-old was reactivated from the injured list this week but is currently restricted to designated hitter duties as he regains full strength. Since returning, he has performed well, going 3-for-3 with three walks and an RBI across four starts. Boone toyed with the idea of having Giancarlo Stanton back in the outfield for a second straight day, but Judge took over the DH spot on Sunday while the team chose a cautious approach.

Boone said, “We want to be realistic with that. I could definitely see him returning to the outfield for the Minnesota series, and I’ll keep monitoring how Judge is handling his comeback.” Saturday marked Stanton’s first appearance in the outfield since the 2023 season.

Fan Take: This update is significant as it signals Judge’s steady return to full strength, crucial for the Yankees’ late-season push. It also highlights the team’s strategic approach to player health, reminding fans of the delicate balance between performance and recovery in baseball.
