Yankees Manager Aaron Boone Faces Fifth Removal This Season During Crucial Game vs. Astros

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone was ejected from his fifth game against the Houston Astros after just three innings on Sunday. Boone disputed a called strike when Jason Alexander threw a sinker to Ryan McMahon that Boone believed was low. He argued with the plate umpire, Derek Thomas, for about a minute before third base umpire Jordan Baker got involved, all while McMahon ran toward center field. Boone was previously ejected six times last season, with his last removal coming on July 23 in Toronto after a disputed third strike call involving Anthony Volpe. Since becoming manager in 2018, Boone has been ejected 44 times. During the current game, the Astros were leading 2-0 at the time of Boone’s ejection.

Fan Take: Boone’s frequent ejections highlight the intensity and passion managers bring to the game, which fans admire. Such confrontations add drama and edge to baseball, making it even more engaging for spectators, while underscoring the pressure on officials and strategists alike.
