Eduardo Camavinga has been diagnosed with an ankle sprain, according to Real Madrid, adding to the club’s challenges in midfield as the La Liga season approaches. The team is already missing key midfielder Jude Bellingham, who underwent shoulder surgery last month and is not expected to return until October.

Real Madrid’s season opener is scheduled for August 19th, where they will face Osasuna at Santiago Bernabéu. A brief statement from the club revealed, "Following a medical evaluation, Eduardo Camavinga has been diagnosed with a sprain in his right ankle."

Camavinga, 22, has experienced five injuries in the past year, limiting him to just 19 La Liga appearances last season. The midfield position posed difficulties for Madrid last season, and with veteran Luka Modric now transferred to AC Milan, their options have further diminished.

In this transfer window, Madrid aims to strengthen other areas by signing defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huizen, and Álvaro Carreras, while also preparing for the 18th birthday of Franco Mustantouno, who is poised for big advancements.

New head coach Xabi Alonso utilized Arda Güler in a central midfield role during the Club World Cup, supported by Federico Valverde, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Bellingham in the semi-finals. Alonso expressed confidence, stating, "With the players we have, we can dominate midfield."

However, ESPN reports that Madrid’s summer signings may be limited unless some players depart. Their squad also includes academy talents Thiago Pitarch and Roberto Martín, alongside first-team midfielders Tchouaméni, Güler, and Dani Ceballos for their upcoming match against WSG Tirol on Tuesday.
