Indiana Fever Harnesses Luck as Kate Linklark Watches from the Sidelines

The Indiana Fever have experienced a rollercoaster 2025 WNBA season. Their star player Caitlin Clark missed 19 games, putting the team at risk of falling to the bottom of the standings. Despite further injuries on Thursday—with guards Ahli MacDonald and Sidney Colson both sidelined for the rest of the season due to serious knee and foot injuries—the Fever have remained resilient. After a strong five-game winning streak, they faced two consecutive losses but bounced back impressively.

A key turning point came on Saturday when the Fever, donning their new “Stranger Things” Rebel jerseys in collaboration with Netflix, defeated the Chicago Sky 92-70. Their debut with the special jerseys started on July 24 with an 80-70 win over the Las Vegas Aces, followed by a 107-101 victory against the Phoenix Mercury on July 30. With three straight wins wearing these jerseys, the Fever seem to have found a lucky charm.

Currently holding a 18-14 record and sitting fifth in the standings, the Fever continue to push forward despite Clark’s absence with no definite return date. Kelsey Mitchell has stepped up, scoring 26 points recently and outscoring Nafisa Collier, proving vital in their victories alongside Angel Reese. Looking ahead, the Fever aim to extend their streak to 4-0 in their next game on Tuesday, again wearing the “Stranger Things” Rebels jerseys.

This report originally appeared on Athlon Sports on August 10, 2025.

Fan Take: The Fever’s resilience amid injuries and their symbolic success wearing the “Stranger Things” jerseys highlight their rising momentum in the league. For WNBA fans, it underscores how team chemistry and morale can ignite a season, potentially reshaping the playoff picture and boosting the sport’s popularity.
