Brighton manager Fabian Hürzeler expressed that he feels “no fear” regarding potential losses during this transfer window.

According to sources from ESPN, midfielder Carlos Valleva has garnered attention from both Manchester United and Manchester City. Brighton has set a hefty asking price of 120 million euros ($139.4 million) for the Cameroon international, who joined the team from Lille in 2023.

Valleva played a crucial role last season as Brighton finished eighth in the Premier League, narrowly missing out on European competition.

When questioned on the BBC’s Monday Night Club podcast about worries related to losing his top player, Hürzeler responded, “There’s no chance, I don’t feel afraid.”

“I’m not afraid of anything because all we can do is to strive to be our best every day and work hard,” he continued. “We really need to focus on ourselves since there are factors we can’t control. While we may not have the spending power of bigger clubs, our greatest asset is our unity.”

“If we stay together, I believe we can compete with larger teams while pushing our limits and maximizing our potential.”

This summer, Hürzeler’s squad has been active in the transfer market, signing Italian international Diego Coppola and Tom Watson from Sunderland.

Star player Bailba missed Brighton’s last preseason friendly due to a knee injury, but he is expected to be fit for the Premier League opener against Pulham on August 16th.

“As a club, we’re always searching for solutions, and we’re confident we’ll find them. That’s part of our model, and we must accept it,” remarked Hürzeler.

Brighton has made substantial transfer profits in recent years, garnering over 50 million euros from players such as Moaces Casecho, João Pedro, and Mark Culera leaving for Chelsea clubs.

“We’ve shown that we’re not just selling off our top players but also attracting new talent. We’ve even received significant offers for players like (Kaoru) Mitoma. We’re proving that we’re not selling everyone,” he stated.

“While we’ve lost some major players, new talent has also joined our ranks. The unity and chemistry within our team enable us to challenge larger clubs and compete with those that might be individually stronger.”

Information from Julien Laurens of ESPN contributed to this report.

Fan Take: This news is crucial for soccer fans as it highlights Brighton’s resilience in a competitive market, showcasing their ability to hold onto key players like Valleva. Such dynamics not only affect the club’s future but also the landscape of the Premier League, making every transfer window an exciting phase worth watching.
