Former Minnesota Wild goaltender Anton Khudobin has announced his retirement after a 14-season career in the NHL. Khudobin was initially selected by the Wild as the 206th overall pick in the 2007 NHL Draft and played six games for the team across the 2009 to 2011 seasons.

Throughout his NHL tenure, Khudobin, now 39, played 260 games for six different teams. He posted a 0.955 save percentage and allowed an average of 1.39 goals in six games against Minnesota, achieving a record of 4-1-0. His career highlights include four years with both the Boston Bruins and the Dallas Stars, the latter tenure seeing him star in the 2020 Stanley Cup Final.

Standing at 5-foot-11, Khudobin concluded his career with a 114-92-33 record, registering a .916 save percentage and a goals-against average of 2.52. He also secured 11 shutouts during his NHL journey, including one while with the Wild in the 2010-11 season.

Recent Minnesota Wild updates include the signing of veteran defenseman Jack Johnson to a professional tryout (PTO). Other noteworthy news covers predictions for the 2024-25 season, Marco Rossi’s notable offseason weight gain, an original Wild prospect signing with the AHL’s Laval Rocket, and Kiril Kaprizov’s ranking among NHL wingers.

Fan Take: Khudobin’s retirement marks the end of a solid career for a dependable goaltender who brought experience and resilience to every team he played for. This news reminds hockey fans of the importance of veteran presence in the league, while also signaling an opportunity for younger goalies to step up and make their mark.
