McLaren Racing and RM Sotheby’s joined forces for an unparalleled auction, paying tribute to the team’s history as the sport’s Triple Crown winners at the Formula 1 Season Finale in Abu Dhabi on December 5th.
McLaren Racing, which won the Indianapolis 500 in 1974, the Monaco Grand Prix in 1984 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995, is the only team to achieve feats in three of the world’s largest races. To mark the achievements, McLaren and RM Sotheby’s said, “World number one, bidders will have the opportunity to acquire the 2026 McLaren Formula 1 team car, and before the new challenger is released to the public, successful bidders will become the proud owner of the Shasis, where one F1 driver is athletic by one F1 driver. Delivering purchases in 2028, one World Championship season,” McLaren revealed.
“In addition, the 2025 show cars will be offered on leases until the car arrives, and buyers will be invited to Walking’s McLaren Technology Center. Buyers also have incredible behind-the-scenes access to McLaren Racing and related events as part of their race car purchases.
“McLaren’s first LMDH hypercar from his debut season in the FIA World Endurance Championship season is also available, giving bidders a rare and unusual opportunity to win 24 hours of top flights for Le Mans racers.
The announcement was made by Mclaren CEO Zak Brown at Monterey Car Week.
“This auction is an extraordinary opportunity to bid on a car that owns racing history and was on track before its official launch,” Brown said. “The Triple Crown is a big part of our legacy and we are determined to claim it again in preparation for the 2027 World Endurance Championship. Not only that, these incredible cars come with unprecedented VIP access to the team and on-track action.”
