Earlier this week, the Stanley Cup made its way to Latvia, a country passionate about hockey. Ubisvalinski, a defenseman for the Florida Panthers and a native of Latvia, brought the iconic trophy to his hometown on Monday. One of his stops was at Tukums Ice Hall, where Balinskis spent his junior hockey years in the local Tukums program.

"I played hockey here for several years, and they really supported me," Balinskis shared from the ice at Tukums Ice Hall. "I made many lifelong friends here, and I’m still close to them. Bringing the Stanley Cup here now makes this place even more special to me."

Balinskis made two key stops with the Stanley Cup, visiting local youth hockey rinks including Marpes Ice Hall. He wrapped up his memorable day with a celebration alongside his closest family and friends.

Check out Balinskis’ video capturing moments from this special occasion with the Cup below.

Fan Take: Seeing the Stanley Cup return to Latvia through a native player like Balinskis is a proud moment that inspires young athletes in countries outside traditional hockey powerhouses. This kind of connection helps grow the sport globally, showing that hockey’s biggest achievements are within reach for players everywhere.
