The first half of the 2025 MotoGP season proved challenging for KTM, but thanks to Pedro Acosta’s efforts, the team closed strong with two podium finishes. These results have become a key source of motivation for the Austrian manufacturer moving forward.

Acosta, in his rookie year with the factory KTM team, showed promise, although Tech3’s Maverick Vinales managed a top-six finish. Rumors also suggest Acosta might consider a switch to Ducati for the 2026 season. Nevertheless, Acosta secured KTM’s first podiums of the season at BRNO, placing second in the sprint and third in the Czech Grand Prix.

Aki Ajo, the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team manager, views Acosta’s performances at BRNO as a sign of the Spanish rider’s growing ability to manage expectations in the early part of his second MotoGP season and his debut factory team ride. Ahead of the Gear Up preview show by Motogp.com, Ajo acknowledged that winter was difficult for the team and set high hopes on Acosta given his impressive rookie season.

Ajo reflected on the mixed feelings of high expectations and some early disappointments but emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and simplicity in their approach. He also noted that encountering and overcoming challenges in 2025 is crucial for Acosta’s development, highlighting the value of learning from difficulties to build strength and experience.

The team manager praised Acosta’s quick adaptation over recent months, believing this process is essential for long-term growth as a rider.

Fan Take: This news is significant for racing fans because it showcases the emergence of a fresh talent like Pedro Acosta, who can elevate KTM’s competitiveness in MotoGP. His progress and resilience not only inject excitement into the season but also hint at an evolving rivalry landscape that could shape the sport’s future dynamics.
