Dewanna Bonner’s recent achievement has received high praise from Indiana Fever legend Tamika Catchings, as highlighted in an Athlon Sports feature. Auburn women’s basketball honored the WNBA’s history on Monday by sharing that Bonner is one of only two players in the league to surpass 7,000 points, 3,000 rebounds, 1,000 assists, 600 steals, and 300 blocks.

Bonner played for Auburn from 2005 to 2009, earning accolades such as SEC Player of the Year in 2009, a three-time first-team All-SEC, AP Second Team All-American, and USBWA All-American. Shortly after this recognition was posted, Tamika Catchings, the other player to reach these milestones, expressed her approval on Instagram.

Bonner, drafted fifth overall out of Auburn in 2009, has played for the Phoenix Mercury (2009-2019, returning in 2025), Connecticut Sun (2020-2024), and the Indiana Fever in 2025. She boasts two WNBA championships with Phoenix, six All-Star appearances, three Sixth Woman of the Year awards, and two All-WNBA selections. Bonner ranks third all-time in career points (7,689) and minutes played (15,732), cementing her status as one of the league’s greatest players.

While new stars like Caitlyn Clark, Angel Reese, and Paige Bueckers are emerging, Bonner’s exceptional multi-category success distinguishes her in the league’s history. Achieving all five major statistical thresholds places her firmly in the conversation for the greatest WNBA players ever, going beyond scoring accolades alone.

Fan Take: This milestone not only celebrates Bonner’s exceptional career but also highlights the evolving excellence within the WNBA, inspiring future generations. For fans, it underscores the league’s rich history and the extraordinary talent shaping its future growth and popularity.
