With Giovanni Leoni already in the middle, Liverpool and Richard Hughes are reportedly very keen to accelerate another summer deal before the deadline at the beginning of next month.
Slots confirm Leoni contract
Sitting for the first Premier League press conference of the season, Arne Slot had some good news for Liverpool fans. The Dutch confirmed that they had reached a contract with Italian Parma and a contract to sign defender Leoni. Defender Leoni will be reportedly presented in front of Anfield before Reds Square with Bournemouth tonight.
Slot told reporters: “The club agreed to the deal, but he hasn’t signed it. The moment he signs it, I can go into more detail.”
In a deal worth around £26 million, the 18-year-old will replace Jarrel Cuanza at the Premier League champions’ home following the defender’s previous departure to Bayer Lebakusen.
Following the Community Shield’s defeat to Crystal Palace in a penalty, there have been some concerns about Liverpool’s centre-back issue, but that only produced a red again in the transfer market. And with Leoni, their windows only reached new heights.
While Italians are unlikely to have an immediate departure prior to Virgil van Dik and Ibrahima Conate, the admiration of Aligo Sacchi suggests that Liverpool has a future star for themselves.
The legendary manager wrote at Gazzetta Dero Sports: “We’ll see if there’s a deal going to happen, but I think the Reds are making a big move by signing this young guy anyway.
But even after Leoni, Liverpool is not finished yet. The report now suggests that Hughes has already shifted his focus to another top target.
Hughes is now keen to accelerate Guehe’s movements.
According to Catchoffside, Hughes is currently very keen to accelerate the move to sign Marc Guech from Crystal Palace. The two clubs reportedly have far-reaching ratings, with the Palace demanding about £50 million and Liverpool currently willing to pay £40 million, but the fact that the defender is in the final year of his contract would give the Reds the advantage.
As for players, Guehi has reportedly completed his summer switch to Anfield and wants to join the Premier League champions. This is far from reports that he will join Arsenal “crossing London” earlier this summer.
England International should not have too many concerns about game time. As things stand, Ibrahima Konate is set to leave as a free agent next summer, allowing players in Guech’s caliber to permanently grab the position next to Van Dik.

Guehi, who has been described as “great” by Manchester City’s John Stones and Ezri Consa’s “world class,” has been pushing ever since, and should now be at the top of Liverpool’s wish list.
