Two days after turning 50, two gloves are competing for the PGA Tour champion.
Tommy Gainey, known for wearing golf gloves with both hands, celebrated her 50th birthday on August 13, just 48 hours before she began to liven it up at her first senior event. And so far, Gainey shot a 6-under 64 in the 2025 Rogers Charity Classic, so it’s pretty good.
Gainey was tied to the lead of Schoenbertsch and Clubhouse at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club in Calgary, and Steve Alker also shot a 63.
Tommy Gainey won the PGA Tour event in 2012
Gainey played in four PGA Tour tournaments this year, all in opposite field events, with T75, T53, T61 and MC finishes. In his PGA Tour career, he won the McGradley Classic and three Corn Ferry Tour wins in 2012, two in 2010 and third in 2020.
Gainey only played at five PGA Tour events in 2024, but was among those who had to go to PGA Tour Q School last winter, but not just before the 2025 full exemption card. His last full season was in 2023, missing 11 of his 16 cuts.
But now he is beginning a new journey on the Champions Circuit, and so far it’s been very good.
