Bryson Deccanbeau – PGA Tour Call for Ryder Cup Adjustments

Bryson DeDanbaugh said he would like to tee up with his Ryder Cup teammates when he plays the PGA Tour event next month in preparation for a team Europe fight at Bethpage Black in New York in late September.

One problem: The PGA Tour doesn’t make it happen for now.

As a LIV golf player, DeChambeau is not eligible to play in PGA Tour events. That would prevent him from participating in the Procol Championship in Napa, California, with US Captain Keegan Bradley, an event two weeks before the Ryder Cup, saying he hopes American players compete to keep their game sharp.

“It’s coming from the tour and their decision,” Deccanbeau told sports illustrators at the Liv Golf Indianapolis event on Friday. “If they don’t let us play together as a team, then it’s with them.”

Deccanbeau said Liv was fine.

“Yeah, that’s an unfortunate scenario and I hope it’s different, but Liv is happy to have me play,” he told SI.

Bradley previously said that Deccanbo would be on the team. The two-time US Open champions are fifth in the Ryder Cup position. This is a virtual lock that will become one of the six automatic qualifiers in the US when announced after this week’s BMW Championship. Bradley will make six captain selections on August 27th, three days after the tour championship in East Lake, Atlanta. There’s no chance of a second LIV player on a US team.

The Americans are about to rebound to Team Europe from a biased loss in Italy’s 2023 Ryder Cup. The majority of the US teams were not playing competitively between the Tour Championship and the Ryder Cup (stretches of 4 or more).
