Like many times before his PGA Tour career, Scottie Scheffler delivered the best when he needed his best. This time it was one of his most epic efforts at the 2025 BMW Championship on Sunday. World No. 1 stopped a miraculous chip-in on hole 17 of the Caves Valley Golf Club, leading Robert McIntyre to a two-shot victory in the FedEx Cup playoffs and Game 2 of the penultimate event.

By scoring his 2025 season and 12th victory in the last two years on the PGA Tour, Schaeffler became the first player since Tiger Woods to win more than five tournaments in a consecutive campaign. Woods achieved it for the third consecutive year, 2005-07, over five consecutive seasons from 1999 to 2003.

Schaeffler began McIntyre’s final round four-stroke on Sunday, but it seemed to quickly lead the Scots and cruising to a house entering the stretch just outside Baltimore. However, Schaeffler failed surprisingly well in a pair of chances to keep the lead, missing out on the 12th and 14th. Even after a 15 ridiculous birdies recovered the lead to two strokes, the world’s No. 1 managed the par 5 16 days par, where McIntyre made the birdies.

Only one on the dangerous par 3 on the 17th saw McIntyre cross the green with a tee shot. Schaeffler left the water and briefly left the slippery tip quickly in the green of the downhill. Unfortunately for McIntyre, there are no too-big moments for the world’s top golfers, as many players discovered when they tried to chase after Schaeffler.

Not only did Schaeffler charge for the tournament and the top prize of $3.6 million, but he also locked a $5 million bonus to break through the FedEx Cup standings that will enter the season finale on the PGA Tour next week’s tour championship.
