According to Jermaine Pennant, Liverpool still needs another striker, and Alexander Isaac is an “absolutely surprising” option for the Reds.
Liverpool has already signed Hugo Echicicke this summer, and the Frenchman has started his goals well in the opening of two competitive games in the Premier League with Community Shield and Crystal Palace at Bournemouth.
Still, the Pennant believes that the Merseyside giants might still think they need another out-and-out number nine, just in case Ekitique gets injured.
Check out the critics who played for Liverpool between 2006 and 2009, after the departure of Darwinnes and Lewis Diaz, urging his old club to strengthen his old club at Isaac…
Liverpool said why they still need to sign Alexander Isaac
“They lost three offensive players,” Pennant said.
“If Ekitike gets injured, they don’t have the number 9. So, if you get an ISAK, absolutely amazing, you have not only strengthening, but one of the best strikers in the Premier League.
“Ekitique can also play on the left side, and he can play a little deeper.
“I know they have a lot of firepower, but they need another striker.”
Liverpool fires on target, but what about their defense?
Some LFC fans may be worried that there will be so many stories about the signature when real issues appear to be defended.
Arne Slot’s side was solid last season, but was recognized twice in the matchups between Palace and Bournemouth.
Liverpool also looked a bit of a suspect in the preseason, so perhaps they’ll need to sign the top in defense, rather than an elite striker like Isaac.
With Trent Alexander Arnold gone, everything has changed behind Liverpool this season, but with Jeremy Fripon and Milos Kerkez coming in, it’s likely that this new lookback four will take some time to get used to each other.
