Liverpool boss Arne Slot confirmed that fullback Jeremie Frimpong will not appear at the club until after an upcoming international break.
The set-off means Liverpool will take place without their new signature until after an international break.
Slot explained that Frimon reported discomfort in his hamstrings during training, which led to the club’s medical staff intervention.
Their decision to quickly withdraw players from the competition has proven justified, with the scan confirming tensions that require rest and rehabilitation.
Arne Slot confirms injury to Liverpool star Jeremie Frimpong
“We felt Jeremy had a problem with his hamstrings. The medical team did.” Slot explained, as journalist Ian Doyle reported.
“They were right. A good call from them that otherwise he could have been out for a longer period.”
The news comes as a blow, but Slot was keen to emphasize that the injury was not long-term.
What is expected is that Frimon will return to full fitness after an international break and allow him to reintegrate into his team ahead of a tough set of equipment, including the Premier League and European commitments.
In the meantime, Liverpool will need to explore alternative options with fullback. Joe Gomez and Connor Bradley were asked to provide covers.
Bradley may be active for the Reds
Added slots: “Connor trained with us for the first time today for a few minutes. The medical team told me about Jeremy to take him to the end of the international break.”
For Liverpool fans, the priority is to ensure that Frimon will make the issue even worse. With the season still in its early stages, the club hopes that this enforced rest will make him more sharp and ready to contribute with full capacity.
The Liverpool team in the slot will face Eddie Howe Newcastle United in their next Premier League match.
