Celtic supporters aren’t happy with their side’s summer transfer business, so expect the Scottish Premiership champion to be busy in the final week of the window.
The vocal chant of “Sack the Board” can be heard through a goalless draw with Kairat on Wednesday night. That means Brendan Rogers’ side will have to win to compete in the Champions League next week in Kazakhstan.
Almaty, 3,500 miles east of Glasgow, doesn’t qualify for a new face, but with the first old company of the season coming next Sunday, Rogers is eager to acquire a belated new recruit through the doors, though he’s belated.
So, can the hoops finally land one of their top targets?
Celtic Signature Need
As reported by Sky Sports News, Celtic aims to sign “two wingers, strikers and left back” before the transfer window closes on September 1st, making it the attacking area on the pitch that requires new recruits the most.
Hoop scored only three goals on an opening 2 premiership outing. It’s been a joint decline tally since 2012, and Rogers’ team didn’t appear to break the deadlock against Kairat mid-week.
In search of more creativity, Sky Sports News’ Anthony Joseph argues that the Celts are “strengthening” their interest in Jacob Bruum.
He adds that “fresh talk” and the advance Eagles are being held among the Celtics, claiming that the 21-year-old is valued at around £5 million, and the Herald report claims that Breum has a £6 million price tag on his head.
So he’s become the 11th Danish player to represent Celtic, connecting with Casper Schmeuchel and trying to emulate Matt Orilly, Morten Wehorst and more?
What Jacob Bruum brings to Celtic
Born in Odense, Bloom began his senior career with local team Audence Baldukurub and made 51 appearances for Denmark’s Super Rigaen side before joining the Goer Eagles in 2023.
His first season in the Netherlands was very quiet, scoring three Eredivisi goals before actually bursting into the scene in the final round.
He scored 10 times for Eredy Busy. That is to say, three midfielders, namely SEM Steijn (24), Malik Tillman (12) and Ismael Saibari (11), were further bagged, but defeated AZ in a penalty in the April KNVB Beker Final at De Kuip, landing the club’s first silverware.
This has led them to win this season in the Europa League. The Eagles first appear on the European group stage, why are they eager to hold onto Starman?
So let’s evaluate Breum’s statistics from last season.

As the table outlines, Breum’s statistics are totally impressive. Most notably, the scoring, the action that creates the shot, and the fact that he emphasized his clinical nature and overperformed his expected goals at almost four.
Despite their Cup victory, the Go Angue Eagles finished seventh in one of Europe’s most balanced leagues, Eredivisy, and none of the Dutch powers deserve praise, performing in the 13th strongest league in the world, 14th, according to the world’s soccer rankings.
Football talent scout Jacek Kulig has labelled him as an “underrated creative winger”, adding that he “has an interesting future ahead”, and that Antonio Mango “can work anywhere behind the striker”, and that “impressive” Dane believes he can contribute to a team that is higher than he is now.
So why is this such an important addition to the Celts?
Well, Bruum will certainly help unleash Hoop’s current most dangerous attacker, Daizen Maeda.
Amid a disastrous charm with Kairat on Wednesday, the Japanese forward deployed the left in the first half and then moved to the centre-forward role after a break, which had no desired effect.
Maeda touched only 45 times in all nine Celtic players, including Anthony Ralston and James Forest.
Maeda, who scored 33 goals in all competitions last season, has proven himself as a reliable scorer, but he still needs service. This is exactly what Breum can offer.
