  • FC Porto is interested in signing Jakub Kiwior
  • Kiwiall hopes to leave Arsenal this summer

Arsenal defender Jakub Kiwior could be on his way out of north London this summer, with Portuguese giant FC Porto pushing hard to secure his signature.

According to respected journalist Ben Jacobs, Porto is increasingly optimistic about completing a deal to see Poland’s international move to Estadio Dragao on its first loan, including a purchase obligation clause.

Nothing has been formally concluded at this stage, but negotiations are understood to be on track and Porto hopes to reach an agreement by early next week.

Adding defensive depth has become an important priority ahead of the new season for the Portuguese club, with Kiwial being considered the ideal fit to strengthen Francesco Falioli’s backline.

Kiwiall is taking pictures of the start and start spells in north London. The Polish defender was important to the gunners when he was impressed with the starting lineup after Gabriel Magalges was injured last season.

However, this summer, with William Saliba, Gabriel Fitt and Arsenal signing Christian Mosquera, Kiwior has opened up to the idea of leaving the North London club after he finds he can’t beat the pecking order and spend enough time at the club.

For Kiwior himself, the prospect of moving abroad is appealing. As Jacobs points out, the 25-year-old prefers to switch outside the Premier League to leave the Emirates this summer.

That stance makes Porto an attractive destination, offering not only a high level of regular football, but also the opportunity to compete in the Europa League.

Arsenal is keen to protect the value of the players signed for around £20 million. Porto’s loan proposal with a purchase obligation could provide a solution suitable for all parties.

The versatile defender is described as “the highest quality” by journalist Graeme Bailey.
