  • Why Spurs’ latest targets are like Eze

Over the past few years, Tottenham Hotspur has parted ways with a number of top-level forwards who have always produced goods during the club.

Harry Kane overcomes the youth level in North London and ultimately made more than 400 appearances for Lily White (Lily White, who scores 280 goals).

However, he left the side in the summer of 2023, leaving a £82 million deal to join German attire Bayern Munich.

Heung-Min’s son joined the LAFC this summer, ending a decade of spells in the capital, breaking the record for the most combined goals between two players in Premier League history (47).

Losing such talents does the job of replacing them with something nearly impossible, but new boss Thomas Frank continues his hunt for additional reinforcements before his first season at the helm.

Savinho has been one of the Spurs’ biggest targets over the past few weeks, with the hierarchy submitting a £60 million bid to try and land the Manchester City winger.

Such an offer was rejected and further discussions were made, but it appears that it is unlikely that the 21-year-old will move to North London now, with Pep Guardiola’s side wanting to protect him beyond Monday’s deadline.

However, another name has recently entered the mix, as Bournemouth winger Antoine Semeño has reappeared on the list.

He recently claimed that the Lily White people “called several calls” to Cherry over a deal with the Ghanaians.

Romano also said that while Frank’s side has raised interest in the “last 24 hours,” for the 25-year-old, who has already scored twice in 2025/26, they will need to kick out up to £60 million.

Why Spurs’ latest targets are like Eze

Spurs ‘Hunt for A New Forward is a long summer process, with many players constantly on the radar.

The Lily Whites had a constant debate with Crystal Palace over the contract to land the English international.

However, given the Spurs are unable to close other deals this summer, it was a surprise to everyone to see the deal not crossing the line as Lily White’s North London rival swooped in the 11th hour.

It was confirmed last weekend that the 27-year-old paid for Mikel Arteta’s side in a £67.5 million region, including add-ons, then placed a major dent in his ambition to improve Frank’s frontline.

Such a blow could soften such a blow, especially if Semenyo’s deal is completed before the transfer deadline on Monday, and there are many similarities with Eze.

He spent the last two and a half years in vitality and joined the championship side of Bristol City Cherry when he linked with the QPR’s Eagles in the summer of 2020.

But despite the similarities, Semeño, who is also an Arsenal fan, was able to outperform him in many key areas of the last campaign.

The Ghanaian achieved target accuracy rates with higher targets in the Premier League last season. This is a tally that can provide new bosses with additional ammunition they crave within the last third.

Semenyo’s scoring ability is one thing, but he also presents his incredible technique to pass the opposition – completing more take-ons than Eze and making twice as many carry numbers in the opposition box per 90.

Such numbers allow him to strike a blow to his supporters, create opportunities for himself from nothing before firing the house and bolstering the already powerful attacks of the side.

However, he can become a provider and get more passes to the opposition box around 90, and such tallies can give the opportunity for something like Richarrison to build on an impressive start until 2025/26.

£60 million is a huge sum spent on new attackers, but if the forward can take his game to the next level in North London, it could prove to be a bargain.

It would have been a huge blow to miss Eze’s signature, especially for their main rivals, but if they can reach Semeño’s deal, it could prove to be a blessing of disguise.
