“We need to be different” – Amorim appears absolutely distraught with Man UTD player after the Grimsby shock

Manchester United manager Reuben Amorim looked absolutely distraught by his players after last night’s defeat to League Two-sided Grimsby.

The Red Devils are out of the Carabao Cup after a crazy game where they fought back 2-0 but lost 12-11 to a penalty.

Brian Mbemo missed an important penalty kick, but Amorim felt that the shootout was not the important part.

Speaking to ITV Sports after the match in the video below, the Portuguese tactician revealed that he was simply confused by the player’s performance level at night when he apologised to the club’s fans…

Reuben Amorim admits that something needs to be changed at Manchester United

“That’s not a result,” Amorim said. “I wasn’t thinking about penalties… I think players really spoke loudly about what they wanted today.

“I just want to apologise to the fans.

“Everything (it was missing). We need to be proud to go on the pitch… we play very well in the Premier League, then come on to the fourth division team and play that way.

“I was shocked,” he added. “It’s the moment we made a lot of changes, we try to fight a lot, but we have to show up in these moments.

“When it doesn’t show up, I feel like something has to change, but I’m not going to change 22 players.”

This is clearly a new and low for Amorim unity, and Portuguese tacticians certainly have increased pressure at Old Trafford.

MUFC certainly won’t put up with this too much. The team also looks pretty bad under Erik Ten Hag.
