Tottenham now has relentlessly pursuing fresh additions and wants to keep up the momentum after hijacking Chelsea’s deal with Zabi Simons early Friday morning.

Simons, who can play widely as a central playmaker to fight the losses of Dejan Crucevsky and James Madison in his previous position of son Hyun Min and through injury, has arrived at the N17 with a potential bag.

Following a “one-night” lecture (Fabrizio Romano), after Tottenham agrees to an ex-La Macia Gem’s £52 million deal from under Chelsea’s nose, Simons wears the iconic number 7 shirt he previously wore.

Dutch International spent a significant portion of the early days of 2024/2025 with ankle ligament injuries, but managed 14 goal contributions in Leipzig’s final 18 Bundesliga appearances last season.

Simons’ proven quality, versatility, and experience of his age (high-ranking 140 total) signs a statement of statement for the Spurs, not to mention much needed after a failed deal with Morgan Gibbs-White and Eberechi Eze.

“He’s a player who has proven his ability to provide goals and support from both 10 positions and the left for many years, and Xavi can play in both positions,” Spurs boss Thomas Frank said of Simons.

“He’s a very good finisher inside and outside the box. His dribbling ability and his acceleration in bursts give him the opportunity to go past the player one-on-one, and his eyes on his teammates are important in that he unlocks his eyes on his teammates.

“Zabi, 22, is young. He has plenty of room for development and betterment, but despite his younger days, he has played many games over the past four and five years.

Following from their move for Simmons, Tottenham is hoping to sign another offensive player and centre-back before the 7pm cutoff on Monday.

Tottenham bids for Man City defender Manuel Akanji for £17 million

According to SkyItalia, the race between Tottenham and AC Milan Man City defender Manuel Akanji has a twist.

According to their information, Rossoneri has made an offer to the 71-cap Swiss International, who played against Portugal at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, but Spurs has emerged as his signature favourite.

For one, Akanji would prefer to stay in the Premier League. And second, Tottenham has made the best offer to Akanji to the city, worth around £17 million and won the bonus on top of the opening proposal for Milan of £13 million.

Milan is working to reach an agreement with the players, but it appears there are some foundations for them to cover to beat Frank’s side in the Akanji signing.

Interestingly, if Milan fails to win this move against Lily White, they identified former Spurs defender Juan Foyce as an alternative.
