NEW YORK – Drake is making a big bet on Janik Thinner, betting $300,000 on the world’s top-ranked male tennis player to win the 2025 US Open.

The rapper, known for placing big bets on sporting events, posted a screenshot of a betting slip from Tuesday afternoon on social media. If Sinner wins his fifth major championship and second in the US Open, six-figure gambling will pay $507,000.

The so-called “Drake’s Curse” has been blamed on several losses over the past few years, including American Taylor Fritz’s $210,000 to defeat the sinners at the 2024 US Open Finals. According to a website tracking Drake’s announced bets and curses, he’s reduced $115,000 in tennis after cutting his losses by selecting a sinner to win the Australian Open Final in January.

Thinner is in the quarterfinals after routing Alexander Babrik in his fourth match. The 24-year-old neighbour faces Italy’s Lorenzo Musetti and is a favourite of -2000 people at ESPN BET.

According to ESPN BET, Sinner is -130 to defend his title in Flushing Meadows and a second Carlos Alcaraz +145. The two have combined to win the past seven men’s major championships.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
