Former Premier League umpire Mark Krattenberg claims PGMOL made a serious mistake during the match between Aston Villa and Crystal Palace.

On Sunday night, Crystal Palace won Aston Villa 3-0. However, the controversy once again surrounded the match, featuring several suspicious decisions.

What Kratenburg said

He told TBR that Matty Cash should be able to show him the red card during the game.

Krattenburg said: “The challenge from Kamada Oshima’s Matt Cash was a poor challenge and deserved a red card. The cash took speed and caught the opponent with a stud above his ankle.

“This should have been a red card. Again, I don’t understand what VAR is looking at with these types of challenges.”

Despite the harshness of Cash’s foul, he stayed on the field. This was something that ultimately had no impact on the outcome as the palace won with convincingness. However, if the villa right-back had been dispatched early, the situation could have been much worse.

Furthermore, Gian Philippe Mateta, who scored the first goal for the palace, was given a yellow card to kick the corner flag after converting the penalty, giving the same attention as cash.

Premier League staff under fire

This is not the first time that Premier League host and Val have been heavily criticized. The recent match between Fulham and Chelsea sparked controversy after Josh King’s goal was allowed.

Premier League hosting has certainly deteriorated over recent seasons, and it will be interesting if officials can improve their performance levels for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, Wind continues its impressively shaped run at Crystal Palace, and Aston Villa will be disappointed with the start of this season. It remains to be seen whether they can bounce back hard.
