Ferrari celebrates 50 years since Monza’s colouring from Lauda’s title

Ferrari will feature special colouring at the Italian Grand Prix this weekend, celebrating its first championship with Niki Lauda’s team 50 years ago.

Lauda drove the Ferrari 312 T in the 1975 Drivers Championship, earning five wins and nine pole positions from the 14th round. The title was taken on September 7th at Monza, finishing third. This is the same date as this year’s race.

To mark this opportunity, Ferrari adapted a colouring that features a white engine cover carried on the 312 T. It also features a metallic silver rear wing, retro numbers and wheel covers, and a historic touch that passes through classic styling in the driver’s name.

Expanding the tribute, the team kit and race suits were changed for the Italian Grand Prix this weekend, inspired by the 1975 season and the style of the era.

Looking forward to the race, team principal Fred Vaserre says it’s important that Ferrari can distract them from what their home event emotion needs to work well on orbit.

“Every year we are enthusiastically looking forward to hitting the tracks at Monza, especially a few days after Zandvoort, not delivering the results we wanted.

“For the whole team, being surrounded by Tifosi’s passion is an incredible motivation to keep our hearts in mind to everything we do. We aim to do our best to them for their constant support. But putting that aside, we need to focus on ensuring our ability to get the first rap from the final rap over the weekend.

“Throughout the course of this season, we have made progress from a competitive perspective, but in such a closely-consistent area, we have to be perfect to get the results we are aiming for.
