This is a detailed look at Man UTD’s 10 most expensive signatures.

10

Angel DiMaria

£60 million from Real Madrid

In 2014, Angel Di Maria put the pen on paper on a five-year contract with Man UTD, in the transfer record between the club and the UK at the time.

Argentina signed from Real Madrid under Louis Van Gare but was sold to Paris Saint-Germain after just one season and 32 appearances.

9

Matheus Cunha

£62.5 million from the wolf

One of the three big money signs of 2025, Matheus Cunha was the first addition ahead of Ruben Amorim’s first full season in charge at Old Trafford.

Man UTD triggered a £62.5 million release clause on the Cunha’s Wolves deal, setting the Brazilian forward to play behind the striker.

8

Rasmus Hojlund

£64 million from Atalanta

The Red Devils won the race in 2023 to sign Rasmus Hozilund from Atalanta. The Danish forward was just 20 years old when he signed the club during his debut campaign and scored 10 Premier League goals.

However, in 2025, Hojlund was allowed to lend to Napoli and participate in the purchase in 2026 for £38 million.

7

Benjamin Sesco

£66.4 million from RB Leipzig

Benjamin Sesco was brought to the front of Hodzilund’s exit as the new main center forward for the Red Devils.

The towering Slovenian striker appeared in RB Salzburg and RB Leipzig before heading to Manchester on his first contract worth more than £66 million.

6

Brian Mbemo

£71 million from Brentford

After starring in the Premier League with Brentford, Brian Mbemo traded London for Manchester.

The versatile forward signed a five-year contract at Old Trafford. If he stays until 2030, he will be able to earn £39 million in wages during his time with the Red Devils.

5

Jadon Sancho

£73 million from Borussia Dortmund

Jadon Sancho failed to make the desired impact at Old Trafford after being brought to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2021.

Sancho also has a calm relationship with Eric Ten Hag, with the Dutch publicly saying that the winger is not included in the match-day team due to his training performance. In 2024/25 he loaned it to Chelsea and joined Aston Villa for the season in 2025/26.

4

Romeru Lukaku

£75 million from Everton

Another big name signature that didn’t work out for Man Utd was Romelu Lukaku, who signed from Everton in 2017.

The Belgians arrived at Old Trafford shortly after Wayne Rooney went in the opposite direction, but Lukaku moved again just two years later, joining Inter Milan.

3

Harry Maguire

£80 million from Leicester City

Man UTD signed Man City to Harry Maguire from Leicester City in 2019. The centre-back has since been a hot topic in conversation at Old Trafford, but mostly remains a regular.

He works for many managers and captained the Red Devils for years before Eric Ten Hag handed the responsibility to Fernandez in 2023.

2

Antony

£81.3 million from Ajax

The club was reunited with cash on Winger Antony and immediately reunited with an Eric 10 hug at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian starred under 10 Hugs in the Netherlands, but after moving to England, Antony struggled to make the same impact.

1

Paul Pogba

£89 million from Juventus

At the top of the list is Paul Pogba, who actually walked through the Academy in Carrington. The French midfielder eventually set out for Juventus in 2012, but four years later he returned to Old Trafford on a £89 million contract.

Pogba’s second stint in Manchester has had many ups and downs, and he left in 2022 when his contract expired.
