Guthrie will extend his stay in Alpine until 2028

Pierre Guthrie has signed to violate his future with Alpine until the end of the 2028 season and extend his stay to at least six years.

The French joined Alpine from Alpha Tauri in 2023, winning the podium at Zandvolt in his first season with the team. A second top three finish followed as part of Alpine’s stunning double podium at Interlagos.

Despite having a 10th place best finish in the 2024 Driver Championship, Guthrie says Alpine is suited to further challenge the grid in the future, and is suitable for becoming a Mercedes Power Unit customer next season.

“I’m excited to commit to Alpine my long-term future,” Guthrie said. “I’m extremely proud to be driving towards a French car company, especially as a Frenchman. Since joining in 2023, I have always felt that this team is the perfect place for the future.

“Flavio’s (Briatol) I, my commitment to the François (Provost) project, and the people we have at Enstone, want to make this a natural decision and come here for years to our joint goals. To win the race and world championships.

With Guthrie paired with rookies Jacques Douhan and Franco Colapinto this year, Briatore describes the Frenchman as the lead driver for the Alpine, a key element of the next three seasons.

“Since coming back to the team, I’ve always said how important it is to build and grow the competitiveness of the BWT Alpine F1 team,” Briatorie said. “We are well prepared for the new era of Formula 1 that starts in 2026. Now we are sure our lead drivers will guide us into the future.

“Pierre was a huge asset to the team during this challenging period. I was very impressed with his attitude, dedication and talent. I look forward to continuing this project together for a long time.”
