Ahmed Abdullahi’s future in Sunderland remains uncertain as interest from Turkish super rigs continues to grow.

Sunderland feels it’s unlikely that the 21-year-old Nigerian striker will receive minutes of his regular Premier League this season. His talent is evident during the preseason, and Sunderland is eager to acquire valuable playing time elsewhere.

Ahmed Abdullahi needs to leave

Sitting on the bench of a Premier League club doesn’t benefit him. Going out on a loan might be ideal for younger attackers.

A report from Gazete Yenigün said the collapse of the Angelone deal for financial reasons led Sunderland to explore other options. Göztepe is trying to enhance its attack options. Considering that Türkiye’s relocation window will remain open until mid-September, the loan move to Abdullahhi could soon be realized.

Sunderland wants a straight loan agreement that allows Abdullahi to get consistent minutes with the aim of promoting the first team spot on his return next season.

Abdullahi is a promising talent

Abdullahi stands out at the youth level with 21 goals in 38 appearances for Gent’s second team. He was a player with incredible potential and was able to grow into a key player in Sunderland in the future. But they need to raise him carefully. They will not be able to provide him with the opportunity he needs now. Therefore, lending him out and sending him is ideal for all involved.

The loan move to clubs like Göztepe, where he can play regularly, is extremely important to his development. It will be interesting to see if the two clubs can quickly resolve the agreement. The young attacker will try to organize his future and focus on his football.
