Manchester United hopes to sign Zeno Debast from Sporting CP in the coming months.

According to GMS, they were monitoring the 21-year-old defender and were able to aim for a move for him in the future. The player can operate as a defensive midfielder and as a central defender. His versatility is a bonus if Manchester United can get the deal done.

Debust was linked to West Ham last year. He also rides Newcastle United’s radar.

Zeno Debast can be a useful option

The 21-year-old has a physicality that thrives in the Premier League and could potentially become a key player for Manchester United in the long run. It will be interesting to see them already sending scouts to act on the players and see if they decided to make a move for him during the winter transfer period.

It is still unclear whether Sports CP is ready to sell him. He has a release clause of around £70 million, and the Portuguese outfit would be willing to leave easily. Manchester United will need to pay a premium to complete the transaction.

Manchester United have done well to improve their team this summer, but if you want to do well in multiple competitions, you will need to add more depth. The 21-year-old not only helps them tighten defensively, but also gives Reuben Amorim more options.

The opportunity to participate in one of the biggest clubs in English football is extremely exciting for young people. Belgians will feel they can improve even further in the usual UK game time. It remains to be seen whether the two will be able to agree to the deal in the coming months.

The move to the Premier League is a big step for the youngster, and he needs to seek guaranteed game time before committing to a transfer.
