Liverpool signed Hugo Ekicchike from Entracht Frankfurt during the summer transfer, but before that, the player was approaching Newcastle United.

Newcastle wanted to sign a French international striker, but they had already agreed to a deal with his club, and they also agreed to personal terms with the players. However, Liverpool made a slow move to sign the striker and he chose to move to Anfield.

How Liverpool hijacked Ekitique’s move

Superagent Ali Barat, who worked on the deal, has now spilled beans on the move.

Ali Bharat revealed (H/T Chronicle Live): “Hugo Ekitike. I was working on behalf of Eintracht Frankfurt to take him to Newcastle. I stayed in Germany for 10 days.

“We agreed with the German club and players and Liverpool called him and he chose Anfield.”

Ekitike has begun an impressive life in the Premier League and has three goals in every competition. He builds on his start and tries to establish himself as a top-class attacker in the Premier League. Newcastle would be totally disappointed that he missed out on the talent of an elite like him. Given his performance in British football so far, I wonder what Newcastle fans have certainly managed to do.

Meanwhile, Liverpool will be pleased to win the race for his signature. The 23-year-old hits the ground running in British football and is already an important player to them. It is fair to assume that he only improves through coaching and experience. He was able to develop into a top-class player at the club in the future.

Liverpool also signed Newcastle United’s Alexander Isaac on a club record deal this summer. Swedish International is expected to partner with Ekitike in the attack. It will be interesting to see if two players can complement each other.
